Pres spox: Too early to discuss restart of Russia–Georgia flights

MOSCOW, Jul 10 (PRIME) -- The Kremlin is sure that the Russian–Georgian air traffic will resume sooner or later, but not now because risks for Russians persist in the country, spokesman for the president Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

“We absolutely cannot rule out that flights will be resumed and we surely hope that this will happen sooner or later but taking into account the strong polarization of the Georgian society, at times extreme, with strong anti-Russian and Russophobe patterns, there is an objective danger for a large number of Russian tourists to stay in Georgia,” Peskov said.

In late June, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree prohibiting domestic airlines from flying to Georgia following the extremist activities that are taking place in the country.
